This game is really clever! It takes the edge off how awkward it is for some people to play art based games by giving them easy to follow guidelines that they MUST adhere to in their drawing while still allowing room for creativity and expression if you're more comfortable with it. It does a great job of levelling the playing field for artistic folks and less artistic folks while still feeling fair and fun.
Dixit meets pictionary with a very accessible design that scales well with all player counts. Good pickup
The mechanics of this game are very well done. Finding a good balance between luck and strategy, the game always leaves me wanting to play another round. Either to defend my win, or redeem myself with hopefully a better order of cards and 'caed luck'. The game is nice and small in the box and has become a pocket/purse favourite to bring places, just like Love Letters. I would recommend this game if you're thinking about purchasing it.
The base game of Castle Panic is a bit simple, even the youngest (8) gets bored of the mechanic after a few games. The expansions add a bit of complexity which refreshes it significantly. A great game for playing with 8-12 year olds that gives them a lot of agency to make their own decisions in a cooperative game, while still learning strategy in a simplified environment.
The Big Box is great, as the expansions are all separated and sorted, which makes it relatively painless to pick/choose/setup with varying combinations of expansions. I'd recommend playing each expansion individually, especially with younger players, before combining them.
Anytime I have to sleeve standard sized cards, this is my go to purchase.
