We love this little game. Enough engaging puzzle-elements, easy to learn, but interesting and fun. And those land-rovers!! Couldn’t resist those . They, and the other components - the animal tiles, the fabric bag, et al - make a really lovely game experience.
- It presents a fun challenge for an adult as well
- The components are of excellent quality
- The rules are a bit quirky at first. My 7-year-old took several games before fully catching on. Because it's a game with hidden information, mistakes are not correctable and unfortunately can ruin the game. Thankfully, it's short!
- It was too challenging for my 4-year-old
If you are a fan of other Pfister games or heavier Euro games, do not overlook this one. The sliding tile action selection mechanism is a first I have experienced and the ability to incentivize you with additional ship sailing options is very good. As always in his games, there is a good use of cards to add variety, providing instant, end game or sustained bonuses to the gameplay.
My only downside is that this game can be long, especially whenever anyone is playing it for the first time. Consider focusing on 2 players and maybe 3 to keep the playtime somewhat reasonable.
