Accessory Folded Space - Castles of Burgundy

As influential sovereigns, expand your estates through trade and commerce. Combine the dice to your advantage and find the strategy that will lead you to victory.
The famous strategy game now in pure dice game!

A "dice version" of The Castles of Burgundy.

The game comes with 5 dice: A timer die, 2 number dice, and 2 color dice.

Like the board game, the idea is to fill as many things on your board, and get the most points, mostly by completing color regions.

One player rolls the dice, and then everyone picks 2 dice to use: A color die, representing a type of hex on the board, and a number.

A hex can only be filled on the board if it's adjacent to an already-filled hex, or your starting castle, and each type of hex has its own rules for which number can be used to fill it, and its own reward.

When completing a region of hexes, you get points, as well as a reward that you can then cross off to activate, such as workers and monks that let you treat a number or color die as having any value, and silver that lets you use a second combination of dice on a turn.

The timer die sets the pace of the game, and also triggers a "shipping" action, where players can cross off collected crates for points.

There are 4 different board layouts included. Solo mode is included.

A classic in take-along format

Looks too ugly as a gift and a bit too complicated as a gateway game. But if you are looking for a classic game that you could take along, and play without making too noise nor attract attention, I would recommend this. I primary use a dice rolling app so I only need to bring one or two pages of score sheet (double sided even) and pen.

Actually Castles of Burgundy

Despite entirely different mechanics, this stays true to the feel of the original Castles of Burgundy. You're building up your kingdom of hexes and scoring points as you complete areas of the same colour. It is much much simpler of course, but still offers some tricky decisions. It's also a nice portable size, and takes up almost no table space.

Must have that stays true to the boardgame

This has become one of my favourite roll and write games. There is some good decision making in this game compared to the typical "roll a dice and put down a number". The spacial element of having to build next to somewhere you have already built adds some nice restriction while being able to acquire special abilities to manipulate the dice adds some breathing room. The pad comes with 4 map variations so good replayability. Really good game to play solo or with as many people as you want as everyone plays off the same dice roll (so not limited to just 4 players). And the fact that this game is a pad and 5 dice makes it transportable and perfect - no extra pieces, figures, chits, etc. Just a great game!
