Expansion For IKI (New Edition)

IKI: Akebono introduces a new location to discover in Edo: the bridge of Nihonbashi, which expands the main street and offers players new opportunities. Players can stop at the bridge to meet famous personalities from the Edo era (like Hokusai Katsushika, Sanyo Rai or Tokunai Mogami) and to trade with the ships (built by the players) in the river.

The Akebono expansion also adds new character cards, building cards, and new pipe, tobacco, and fish tokens for more strategic depth and decision making.

Iki Akebono is worth it if you love Iki.

Iki Akebono expands an already great game into a slightly better game. I enjoyed that I can buy boats that change parts of the game and that there are new personalities to acquire, but that the expansion didn't change too much of the original game. I even think that the way the new board handles the artisans you can hire is done really well. But I kind of think that one area that could be better is being able to mark a character for hire for later, rather than making all the new characters disappear each round.
