It is the start of the bleak, desolate Antarctic winter when a group of NSF researchers manning the claustrophobic, isolated U.S. Outpost 31 comes into contact with a hostile extraterrestrial lifeform. Bent on assimilating Earth's native species, this being infiltrates the facility — creating a perfect imitation of one of the Outpost 31 crew. The staff frantically begin a sweep of the base, desperate to purge this alien infection before escaping to warn McMurdo Station that somewhere, out there in the frigid darkness, something horrible is waiting.

In the hidden identity game The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31, you will relive John Carpenter's sci-fi cult classic in a race to discover who among the team has been infected by this heinous lifeform. Play as one of twelve characters as you lead a series of investigations through the facility using supplies and equipment to clear the building. The tension mounts and paranoia ensues as you question who you can trust in the ultimate race to save humanity!

Are you The Thing?

This game is honestly so much fun. And my group really needed a new board game that exceeded a four player count, this one fills that role at 4-8 players. This is a blast of a time that will fill everyone at the table with paranoia. 1-2 hours for a game with a larger group.

Phenomenal hidden role game

I love this game. It feels so stacked and hopeless for the humans. It is a perfect adaption of the film.

The best ong form hidden identity

If you like Avalon or The Resistance or other hidden identity games but want a longer more tense experience this is it. The thing allows players to invest further into deducing the players that have fallen victim to the monstrous thing. The mission requirements sometimes force players you think are the thing onto the missions and allows twists and turns that are often missed in shorter games like this one. At the end just when you think the pressure is off you need to make a decision as to who will escape the facility which forces the group to plead for inclusion of themselves or exclusion of suspected monsters. The game also includes a couple ways for the thing to win so it doesn't just force the opposing player to tank all the missions, it plays to be sneaky and helpful. Plays best with the higher number counts. Finally, the game perfectly captures the classic horror movie theme.
