The rule book is not great in either language (some of it is omissions, some of it is the layout) and you should expect to spend an hour or so reading BGG posts to find the weak points and (sometimes contradictory) feedback from the co-designers.
Despite all this, it is a fine game with no fatal art errors although a couple of iconographic tweaks might have helped (e.g. a poor reminder that Quick recovery is only allowed for non-Novice Pilots, and no reminder anywhere that only non-Novice Pilots may fly to/from South American destinations.) Also, make sure to read about how to prevent damage to your Plane pieces that go in the clear stands.
We got this to have an alternative to play to our much-loved Wingspan. First time through we weren’t sure about it as my husband didn’t thoroughly shuffle the main set of cards (THOROUGHLY shuffle or you will have a very poor game, duh). Second time through, with proper setup, we started to understand it better and really enjoyed it. I think it’s now simple enough to play, but with enough complication and variation to keep bringing us back. Looking forward to more!
Great quality, though a bit bigger than I expected (my mistake!). It takes up a larger space than I’d like on smaller tables, but also means that I can use it for the games that have a lot of dice. Otherwise, simple to set up and love that it stores flat!
This is an excellent game - and I don't typically enjoy the abstract strategy genre. It has a simple rule set, but you can discover more and more strategic depth as you play more games. I like that it can be modified to play with younger players (only getting 3 kittens in a row as the game end condition). We gave this a gift and the recipients, who aren't huge gamers, were thrilled with both the components and gameplay. I highly recommend.
