Plays exactly the same, maybe even a better experience for some as there's less reaching around the table and acrylic frames to help the tiles stay in place.
Its fine as a worker placement. But xmen not working together doesnt really make sense. And the situations are all pretty similar. I would just get lords of wtaerdeep instead.
Everyone raved about this game, so I finally ponied up and bought it. I have to admit this is about the biggest let down I have had in a board game in a long time. It's mostly based on an app. I guess I hate app-hybrid games. If I want to play a video game, I will just play a video game full stop. I just grew tired quickly of having to stare at my cell phone.
The artwork is very nice, and I am sure the story is very good, but it's more of a text based ride along and very little strategy. I just don't care for it. I just don't get it.
I like playing with my 10year old through I do find some of the pieces extra's - so we dont play with the 'scoring tocken' and we just add the camels 5 points. this reduces 2 extra piles on the table. Its a table not a small space game - but fast and easy to teach.
I've played through a few scenarios of this game now, and it's story is very immersive, the battles are very tough but fun and rewarding, and the exploration is something I've never experienced before. I'm looking forward to finishing the campaign and hopefully playing it through a few more times. One of my top 5 games easily!
