We have very much enjoyed our first few plays of Dune Imperium Uprising. I feel it is a better balanced game with a little more emphasis on combat than the first Dune Imperium add in some fun new mechanisms and the result is a slightly better game play experience. If you are looking to buy one or the other and are not turned off by slightly more complexity I would recommend Uprising. If you already have the original I don’t think it is different enough to justify owning both unless you play a lot of Dune Imperium and are looking for some variety. If you already have Dune Imperium but no expansions and are looking to spice things up go for the Rise of IX expansion rather than this whole new game.
I feel the Spies add a very interesting new mechanism to the game and are a big part of what makes this a slightly better experience. The contracts are fine but of little consequence.
The rebalanced board spaces, worms with their combat reward doubling benefit, and the objective cards matching for points mechanism push a little more attention towards the combat element of the game and is also part of what elevated this game slightly IMO.
Ultimately much like Dune Imperium, Dune Imperium Uprising is a great game and I highly recommend it.
