Many types of railways, which during the next 150 years came into being over the whole country, supported industries such as mining, sugar plantations, logging, metal works, and cement factories. For the most part, they were owned by the industrial companies themselves and were therefore called "Private Railways" in order to distinguish them from the main railways owned by the States.
1848: Australia is a semi-historical railroad game for 3 to 6 people. It is based on the game 1829 by Francis Tresham. Historical constraints have, as far as is possible, been taken into account. In other areas, history will be written anew. 1848 features the inclusion of The Bank Of England as a public company that extends loans and administers railroads that are in receivership, dealing with the different track gauges between states, and 'The Ghan' special train.
1848 has simple mechanisms at its base. The yellow, green, brown and grey tiles are placed on the map to form a network of routes, connecting stations together. The trains (train cards) make notional journeys from station to station, thereby earning money. The (imaginary) travellers pay for their journeys. The more and the more important the stations a train visits, the more money it earns for the company and its shareholders.
In the game, you and your fellow players will own 6 Private Companies, shares in 8 Public Companies, as well as shares in the Bank of England. The Public Companies belong to their shareholders. The player with the most shares in a company is its Director and decides what the company will do. You will operate your companies, invest in others, buy better trains, and compete for routes. At game-end, players computer the value of their shares and add that value to their operating profits to determine their total wealth. The player with the most wealth wins.

In 1880: China, based on 1829 by Francis Tresham, the players become railway barons in the far east, experiencing China's railway history in a game that was designed to represent related historical events as correctly as possible within its own game mechanisms. Being a classic 18xx game, the players compete to become the richest. In order to gain money, they buy and sell shares of China's historical railway companies, build and expand their railway network, and let trains travel on the networks. Shares of successful companies are worth more, and owning them will increase the chance to win the game. In the end, the player with the highest wealth combined from cash and shares wins.
1880: China innovates on the 18xx model as follows:
Turn order for companies doesn't change with the evolving stock prices; it is set along with the par price when a player opens a company.
The game includes a player-manipulated ratio of stock rounds and operation rounds. For example, a new stock round occurs when the last of a type of train is bought.

1840 is an 18xx game that tells the story of Vienna’s tramway system. Each player controls a holding company that can operate up to three tramway lines. Each of these lines lay track and stations on the map and run its trains, earning income from the stations they run through. All money is collected in the holding company and every couple of turns a company round commences where the players have to decide how much money they will pay out to the shareholders and how much will be kept in the holding company for better trains, more stations, and track building.

The railway history of both Switzerland and Austria can be explored in 1844/1854, two previously self-published designs — both based on the 1829 game system created by Francis Tresham — that have thoroughly revised for this new edition.
In 1844, set in Switzerland, the challenge lies in running different types of businesses: Local railway companies, which merged at that time to form SBB, and national historical societies require different decisions and support different strategies. Many companies have a destination station and receive a large part of their working capital only if they have connected this stations to their route network. The game also features mountain railways, tunnels, private companies and two different types of locomotives, providing for lots of variation for railway enthusiasts and lovers of complex games.
A special feature of 1854, set in Austria, is located in the stock split, which comes into play in the additional shares. As in 1844', there are mergers of companies, two types of locomotives, tunnels, mountain railways, and private companies. In addition, some private companies operate on a separate game board depicting the Steyr region.

Russian Railroads: German Railroads is the first expansion for Russian Railroads and requires the base game to play. This expansion consists of three different, independent modules:
1) Germany game board
A brand new game board with new routes and, consequently, completely new opportunities and strategies to follow. For example, the distances are not fixed, which means that all options are open and not equal to vary the flow compared to the standard game.
2) Coal age
This module breaks up familiar strategies through the addition of a coal resource. Coal can be used to improve locomotives and factories, or it can also be used in foundries. These new foundries bring in a decent income when they are fired with coal. Alternatively, coal may also enhance a locomotive or the effect of a factory, if used as a heat source.
3) Single ticket
This module is a solo version, which features a dummy opponent that occupies different spots and tries to stop the player from achieving high scoring.

Two to five players act as leaders of different peoples and command them to explore, send out fleets, build trading posts, and generate the highest possible profit. Poseidon contains most of the basics of 18xx games and due to the relatively short running time of two hours is as suitable for 18xx-newbies who want to explore this wonderful world as it is for experienced train gamers.
The 18xx basics included are:
1) Instead of running a corporation, players control a country/people
2) The goal of the game is personal wealth, the wealthiest player at game end is the winner
3) Players create trade routes similar to railway lines in 18xx games
4) Trains are replaced with common modes of transportation at the time (i.e. ships) with varying types
5) 18xx type stations are replaced with trading posts
Game Contents: game board, eight "possession sheets", play money, lots of wood pieces, cards, 1 rule book

In Russian Railroads, players compete in an exciting race to build the largest and most advanced railway network. In order to do so, the players appoint their workers to various important tasks.
The development of simple tracks will quickly bring the players to important places, while the modernization of their railway network will improve the efficiency of their machinery. Newer locomotives cover greater distances and factories churn out improved technology. Engineers, when used effectively, can be the extra boost that an empire needs to race past the competition.
There are many paths to victory: Who will ride into the future full steam ahead and who will be run off the rails? Whose empire will overcome the challenges ahead and emerge victorious?
