Tyrant is a tactical simulation of combat between the armies of Carthage and Syracuse, from 480-276 B.C.

Long before Hannibal Barca led the armed forces of Carthage into a titanic struggle with Rome, Carthage had vied for centuries with the Greek city-state of Syracuse for supremacy in the Western Meditteranean. Tyrant includes twelve of the most decisive battles in the recurring wars that pitted Carthage against the Greeks of Syracuse. The armies of Syracuse were similar to the contemporary hoplite armies of the mainland Greek city-states, but with better cavalry and a strong mercenary corps of both Greek and Western barbarian units. Carthage relied on North African tribal levies augmented with barbarian mercenaries from all over the Western Mediterranean. In Sicily, Carthaginian armies were usually supported by allied and mercenary Greek units.

Although Syracuse was generally more successful in open field battles, Carthage had superior wealth, political stability, and naval power. The continued warfare remained balanced over time, yielding no decisive advantage to either side. The more than two centuries long struggle never came to a definite conclusion as "new kid on the block" Rome would emerge in the First Punic War to steal the prize.

Battles:

Himera, 480BC
Second Himera, 409BC
Akragas, 406BC
Gela, 405BC
Cabala, 377BC
Cronium, 376BC
Crimissos River, 341BC
Abolus River, 338BC
Mount Ecnomious, 311BC
White Tunis, 310BC
Tunis, 307BC
Lilybaeum, 276BC

To play Tyrant, you will need the game Great Battles of Alexander, Deluxe Edition for maps, basic rules, and some counters. Tyrant can also be played with the Simple Great Battles of History Rules.

D-Day to the Rhine, 1944 is the follow up to, Battle of the Bulge 1944. D-Day to the Rhine, 1944 follows WWII on the Western Front from June of 1944 until March of 1945.

As the German player, you will set your defenses to meet the Allied landings. As the Allied player you will land and try to break out and drive across France as quickly as possible. Can you cross the Rhine and break through the West Wall before Christmas?

The game includes variable objectives that are picked before the game begins creating a great sense of tension as neither player truly knows his opponents objectives before the game begins.

Optional rules are included for landings other than in Normandy, and hidden German units.

Most of the objectives for victory are the elimination of enemy units and for the Allies getting into Germany before 1945.

414 BC: The Siege of Syracuse is the second in Worthington Publishings Great Sieges game series.

These games are designed for easy setup, quick game play, and can be finished in under an hour. Game marker placement is shown on the game board. Command orders and cards are used to shorten the rules. Developed for solitaire play, this game requires you to make great decisions based on good strategy, keeping your wits about you when orders do not turn out well, and pressing on to victory.

Game play is centered around using Field Commands to issue orders by the Athenian and Syracusan commanders to defeat each other. Either side can be defeated by their morale falling too low. The game allows you to play either side against a solitaire opponent that has 3 levels of difficulty.

Pick the side you want to be, Athenian or Syracusan, and then shuffle the solitaire card deck for your opponent. The card mix used by the solitaire opponent differs from game to game so no two games play alike.

Each commander (solitaire or player) can issue one order per game turn from their Commands available. Your order is carried out based on your strategy and current situation faced. Your choice can cause multiple actions and reactions with results that cause troop eliminations, morale reductions, and events to occur.

HOW TO WIN THE GAME

Any time one side's morale reaches zero during a turn, the other side wins the game.

One of the greatest battles in World War II history is finally coming to Worthington Publishing. Designed by Dan Fournie, and using concepts from Worthington's Holdfast Series, this fast playing Bulge game will give you hours of game play. With fewer than 50 counters per side, and 8 pages of rules, you'll be up and playing in 15 minutes, and finishing games in 2 hours or less.

Each side gets a set number of resource points to move and have combat, each move or combat costing a resource point. But you can do these in any order, so attack with an adjacent unit, create a hole, and then race through with another unit, which can then attack! Then move the initial unit that attacked to create the hole...the decisions are yours!

Breakthroughs will occur, having the right units in position to expoit your opportunities is critical. The Germans start with more resource points and will reduce as the game goes on, the allies on the other hand start with fewer and go up as the game goes on, reflecting the historical situation.

Much like in DUNKIRK 1944 we have included optional German Objective Cards. The German player secretly picks one prior to play, the Allied player does not know the true German objective until the game end creating tension right up to the last die roll.

—description from the publisher

Although the publisher claims 1-2 players, it has no solitaire opponent to compete against. It's a 2-player game, and like most 2-player games, you can solo both sides.
